At YUMC, we see ministry to children and youth as one of our greatest privileges and responsibilities. We also recognize that parents are the first pastors kids ever have. Therefore, we strive to invest in the WHOLE family, so that everyone is growing in their relationship with God. On Sunday mornings, we have nursery care for little ones, and programming for preschool and elementary age kids.  They are cared for and taught by loving individuals, all of whom have undergone “safe sanctuaries” training.

At YUMC, we believe worship is for the WHOLE family of God, including our kiddos!  We don’t separate our children from their church family, rather we spend the first part of service together, so that our young people build relationships with loving and faithful adults. We also like to incorporate older kids in worship as they learn to serve and lead.

Kids and adults alike enjoy the children’s sermon each week. It’s one way we help our young people learn that church is for them, no matter how young or old they may be. After the children’s sermon, younger kiddos head off to children’s church, for an special lesson and craft.

Youth Group

Our youth (middle and high school students) meet every other Sunday afternoon from 3:30-5pm in the youth room. We strive to incorporate Scripture, real-life conversations, and some laughter at each meeting. We also incorporate children and youth into various aspects of our worship services because we see them as valuable members of our church body.

Every young person needs at least five adults to be on his/her “team,” cheering them on in life and faith.  We are grateful to join parents on their kids’ teams!   If you’d like more specific details on our youth ministry, please email Pastor Kate at kate.muhlbaier@inumc.org
